Over £4 million has been raised to date towards the centre, including more than £1 million from the government-backed programme Futurebuilders England, and further fundraising is continuing this. This is being done through a combination of local contributions and applications to charitable trusts and foundations. HRH The Prince of Wales, who is taking a keen interest in the development, has made a donation from his own private charity.
