Buy-A-Brick

The "Buy-A-Brick" scheme has been set up to help continue raising all the money needed to complete the ambitious development at Littlelands, Cottingley. Full construction of the mix of community facilities and housing was begun in October 2006 and is progressing well despite some poor weather.

Nearly £4 million has been raised towards the £4.5 million costs of the community facilities, which include a community hall, church, youth and IT rooms, pre-school playgroup, GP Surgery, sensory and wildlife gardens, Social Services base and a respite care home for young people with disabilities.

Funding applications have been submitted to the Big Lottery and several trusts and foundations to help close the gap and the trustees of the centre are confident that everything will be in place well before the completion of construction in spring 2008.

"'Buy-A-Brick' gives individuals and businesses an opportunity to buy into the development which will serve them," explained Reverend Canon Sue Pinnington, Chair of the centre's charity trustees. "Anyone who buys one will have their name entered into a Book of Donations which will be kept on display when the centre opens. It's a chance to be a part of the history of this amazing effort by local people to provide state-of-the-art community facilities which are so badly needed here in Cottingley."

Individuals can "Buy-A-Brick" for just £10, and businesses are asked to make a £25 donation, which can be made securely through PayPal or by Credit or Debit Card.
