About Us

Meeting Room at Cottingley Cornerstone Centre

Cottingley Cornerstone stands in the heart of Cottingley on the sites occupied previously by Littlelands Social Services’ Elderly Care Day Centre and the Church and Hall of St Michael and All Angels.

It is the expression of a dream brought into reality, under the leadership of the Revd. Canon Sue Pinnington, by a partnership of local people, Bradford Metropolitan District Council and the Diocese of Bradford. It has transformed an underused site in the middle of Cottingley into a vibrant centre for community regeneration. It offers services to a wide range of people of mixed abilities and from a broad spectrum of communities in the Bradford Metropolitan District Council area.

In 2002, a decision was taken to demolish Cottingley’s Parish Church. During the following two years, plans were developed to level the entire site and build the present community centre.

Support came from many sources including the local parishioners and councillors; word even reached as far afield as HRH The Prince of Wales.

Prince Charles’s involvement began in September 2002 when he was present at the re-dedication of the Cottingley War Memorial. Having met many local people and being inspired by the story of community involvement in developing a new church and community facilities, Prince Charles involved the officers of his Prince's Foundation who came to Cottingley and worked hands-on with residents to design a brand new centre for its heart.

The desire to create a resource that sustains itself and serves every member of the community produced the fantastic Centre you see today. State-of-the-art function facilities are combined with medical and care services as well as a range of residential accommodation. In 2008 HRH, The Prince of Wales paid his second visit to officially open our brand new Centre.

Cottingley Cornerstone Centre now operates as a Registered Charity.

Our aim is simple, to provide a first-class community facility, open and available to the whole community but dedicated to the service of any who experience physical or social disadvantage or deprivation.

Welcome to Cottingley Cornerstone Centre.
